Michael McFadyen's Scuba Diving - Middle Grounds
Middle Grounds is located in the middle of the entrance to Jervis Bay, inside the actual bay itself. It is in a rough line from Darts Point (the north-western headland of the bay) and Bowen Island. It is often possible to dive this site when all but North Bowen Island are undiveable due to huge southerly seas.
Head to GPS Reading of 35ΒΊ 06' 29" S and longitude of 150ΒΊ 46' 00" E. Note that all the GPS Readings on my Web Site are taken using AUS66 as the map datum. If you use another datum you may be about 220 metres off the site. See my GPS Page for more details and how to convert readings. You will see that this is right in the middle of a section of reef that is basically an island in the sand bottom.
The reef is a series of steps that drop down towards the ocean. I have only dived this spot once and cannot now remember much about it. I will update if I do it again.
