Catlypso - Michael & Kelly McFadyen's Sailing Adventures

    Catlypso
This page will have links to the various pages about a Lightwave 38 sailing catamaran called Catlypso (originally named Pieces of Eight) which my then wife Kelly and I purchased in 2015. Catlypso was a name we came up with by combining "Calypso" from Jacques-Yves Cousteau's famous boat and "cat" (for obvious reasons).

Our first major adventure started 3 May 2015 when we headed north from Sydney to Northern Queensland. We arrived back home in Sydney on 26 October 2015.

We were going to go off again in May 2016 but Kelly decided to keep working till she was made redundant at the end of 2016. We sailed the boat from Sydney to the Gold Coast in September 2016 so we could have some work done, especially the windows. We left her there for the next seven months and drove from Sydney to the Gold Coast in late April 2017. Once we did some work on the boat, we headed off on another trip to Northern Queensland. We arrived back in Sydney on 30 October 2017.

In March 2019, unfortunately, Catlypso was put up for sale as Kelly and I have divorced. It was sold in October 2019 and was on Lake Macquarie. However, as of 14 February 2022, it is for sale at Newcastle for an unbelievably high price. Happy to answer any questions potential buyers might have about it.
